   Applied Certificates

         Supported by

Submissions for the Applied Certificate can be made after attending at least 8 workshops (4 days) of a Language Teaching Professionals TESOL program.Each submission that achieves at least a ‘Pass’ grade is quantified as 4 hours. The maximum number of submissions is 5. The ‘Applied Certificate’ is issued after 5 submissions have achieved at least a ‘Pass’ grade The pass grades are ‘Pass’, ‘Pass C’, ‘Pass B’, ‘Pass A’.

 

Each submission should consist of one of the following

 

(A) A video or audio of the teacher in class teaching students of an appropriate age for the TESOL program. The video/audio should be a minimum of 20 minutes. The teacher also needs to write 500 words showing what he/she was aiming to achieve during the video/audio and lesson as a whole and assess whether this was achieved.

 

(B) A presentation to teachers at an official ETJ/FETJ/Language Teaching Professionals event. The presentation should not be shared with another teacher (having an assistant is OK) and should be at least 40 minutes. In order to get a grade higher than ‘Pass’, it is also necessary to submit a video/audio of at least 15 minutes of the presentation and write 500 words showing what he/she was aiming to achieve during the video/audio and presentation as a whole and assess whether this was achieved.

   FETJ Credits

The FETJ (Filipino English Teachers in Japan) Teaching Guidelines course counts as credits for the Language Teaching Professionals TESOL (Young Learners) program and the FETJ Advanced Guidelines course counts as credits for the TESOL program that focuses on teaching teenagers and adults.

 

Attending two days of one of the courses will be considered the equivalent of submitting and passing two TESOL Applied Certificate levels, and will be valued as 8 hours towards a TESOL Certificate

 

In order for these credits to be counted , it is necessary to attend a minimum of eight workshops (four days of workshops) of a Language Teaching Professionals TESOL program.
